eep!

I had a bitch of a time getting a picture up today – I had to work, and the character I was drawing just wouldn’t come together. Perfectionist that I am, I couldn’t post it in a substandard state. I whipped up this quick portrait based off the original sketch. Not perfect, but 10 times better than the original.

Still no new full colour images, but soon maybe. I whipped this guy up quickly and with surprisingly little angst for once. Sometimes the simpler flatter images are the hardest, because even the smallest flaw can appear obvious. They require a kind of compositional jiggering that the straightforward character designs don’t. This time I got it mostly right straight away.

I will re-post the finished image sometime after May.

I designed this little guy to be used in a promotion at the place I work, but it didn’t get used. It was a bugger to get it balanced and symetrical.

The picture was mostly finished, but I played around with the colours and added a little texture so I had something to post.

Another weird alien character. This one turned out a lot better than the last one, but there are still a few hairy issues with the pose that will need fixing. Till next time.

I had a lot of trouble trying to compose this picture – and I’m still not entirely satisfied. It’s pretty well balanced, but there are parts I’m not quite happy with. With colour and detail it could come together, or it could get worse…

Anyway, the challenge is chugging along so far. It can be a frustrating schedule to keep, but it’s definitely a worthwhile exercise. fingers crossed I make it to the end.

Quick post today. Drew this one kind of absently, so it’s a bit unbalanced. Oh well – with a bit of attention this might make good inks after the May challenge.

Just a quick post. Mother’s day prevented me from getting much done today, so I gave this guy a quick scribble in photoshop. Not a bad little character, but I probably won’t do much more with this.

Today was the last day of work for a little while, so I may just post some slightly spiffier pictures soon.

I was working on some other ideas today when I randomly  sketched this little guy. I find elephants to be pretty versatile animals to create characters from. Might experiment with a couple of things when I ink and colour this later.
